Wonder where we’ve been hiding? Here’s what we’ve been up to over the last few months...
As we write this blog, our 2018 campaign is going live and everything that we’ve been working on for the last year. Or really, when we think about it, for the last four years. You’ll notice quite a few changes here at Tens, and we think this is the start of a new chapter for us.
Around this time last year, we made the decision to become more sustainable. Why? Because we want you to feel good about what you’re wearing, and we want to feel good about what we’re making.
We sourced this amazing new material by renowned Italian acetate manufacturer, Mazzuchelli that’s made with the renewable resources of cotton and wood pulp from a sustainably managed forest. It's been proven to have significantly less impact on the environment compared to regular plastic sunglasses and has undergone biodegradability tests by Belgian research institute, Organic Waste Systems.
Made with this revolutionary material, all the frames in our new collection are biodegradable. But we didn’t stop with our frames - our packaging is now made from recyclable and biodegradable materials too. Because it wouldn't make sense to wrap eco-friendly sunglasses in rolls of plastic, right?
For us, the transition to bio acetate has been challenging given the expense and long lead times, but we’re proud as a small company to be making this move and we hope bigger brands will do the same.
That’s not all that’s changed - we also have a completely new website (this one, right here!). People always tell us about the great experience they have when they try on a pair of our sunglasses and we wanted our website to match up to that - so we worked with some incredible creatives from all over the world and spent perhaps one too many nights eating takeout in the office to make it happen. But to be honest, it’s totally worth it.

As we do every year, we’ve launched the collection with our new brand film. We flew over to Vilnius in Lithuania and built an amazing crew to pull it all together in just a few days. Check it out - we think you’re going to like it.
